She was born into slavery by Maria Belle, an enslaved African woman in the British West Indies. Her father was Sir John Lindsay, a British career naval officer who was stationed there. Made from the highest quality leather, the shoes are each handmade and lined with fine calfskin. The shoes are standard width and feature a hard, thick leather
